An exciting event and a first for Hospice Wanganui
is just around the corner...
10am on Saturday August 15th, will be when bidding commences on over 400 beautiful lots in the Grand Estate Auction
The premises at 184 Victoria Ave, (previously Eides Sports Store) has been secured for the event, and therein lies a collection of items to interest everyone from the most serious collector to the most frivolous bidder! There are magnificent collectables such as the reverse painted Chinese snuff bottle. Beautiful, desirable Moorcroft ware. Cast gem irons. A wide array of jewellery, artworks and furs. Depression glass and Royal Doulton. Mother-of-pearl inlaid accessories and wonderful furniture. Hand-beaten silver ware and children’s ABC blocks. Meccano, pie funnels and a mantel clock. The ‘gator bag and the armadillo basket.
There is truly something to interest and intrigue everyone.
Fundraising is something that is a part of our reality at Hospice, and there are many ways in which we seek funding to ensure that we can continue to care for Wanganui families in their time of great need. Donations of time, resources or funds are always welcome, and it’s worth noting that all donations made are returned directly to Hospice Wanganui. So it’s comforting for donors to know that whether they purchase from our stores, send a cheque or support an event, the donation they have made stays right here.
Along with donations there are events throughout the year which are organised specifically for the benefit of Hospice. The calendar has been varied this year with events such as the Hospice Cup Day at the Wanganui Racecourse, and the Homes for Hospice Tour. Our Garden Fete was popular once again, and there was great support for the Central Plateau Scooter Challenge. All of these contributed not only to our fundraising effort, but by engaging the community in something that’s fun, helped to create an awareness of what we do, and what we need to do it.
We are fortunate to have continued support from the Wanganui community and the generosity of those who give the resources, time or funds to us is acknowledged with our warmest appreciation. We hope that you will venture along to the previewing of these gorgeous auction items to see what takes your interest. It promises to be a wonderful event and we’re grateful for the energy and enthusiasm of those who have helped develop it.
The day will be a flurry of activity so if you are interested, be sure to mark it on your calendar and join us.
Full details about the auction are on our website at www.hospicewanganui.org.nz where you will also find a complete catalogue of items on offer. There are a selection of photos online too, both on the website and our Facebook page, and these are being updated each weekday prior to the auction.
Previewing times are Friday August 14th from noon-6pm, and again on Saturday from 9am-10am.
Refreshments will be available onsite so there’s no need for you to miss a moment of the auction action!
